A Week of Firsts
It was a genuinely great week! I didn’t feel prepared, I didn’t finish the paintings I wanted to… But all told, it all turned out just fine.
I’m still working hard on producing new pieces and bags, and I’m pretty sure this is just my life now… Haha. Maybe I’ll catch up after market season.
So… Here are this week’s successes:
I made a super cool rotating rack for my mini prints. I snagged a round metal dealy from the transfer site (which, is a definite iykyk thing, but I might make a dedicated blog about it), used a random piece of pvc pipe that was in the house when we bought it, a ten dollar lazy susan from Walmart, secured with some gorilla glue and hot glue, and spray painted it. All told, it literally cost me $10. It holds 48 mini print designs. I might tweak the holders a bit because they fall over if jostled too much, but I think I can come up with a simple (and also cost effective) solution.
MY FIRST ONLINE ORDER! Guys, I’m stoked. It might not be a big deal to some. But after struggling to get my website up, get it how I want it, revamping everything multiple times to flow better, struggling with my listings, trying to figure out the shipping calculations… This is a really big win for me and it means a lot.
MY FIRST FIRST FRIDAY! And it was great! It was at an amazing venue, with amazing vendors, amazing musicians, an amazing host. I truly loved it so much.
Also, yesterday was a great day at the market. One of my better sales days this season, with 2 bags and 2 11×14 prints getting new homes. All and all, this week as reaffirmed why I love creating. I don’t need to be a big name. I just want people to connect with my work on a meaningful level.
I have so many ideas and directions I want to go, thoughts on which markets and events I want to do over the winter and next summer, how to allocate my time for windows so I’m still sharing my work with the community… I’m excited.
